What I do is charge between 2 and 3 times the mowing rate.

We charge per 1k sqft. Depending on terrain, obstacles, location, etc. we get anywhere from $10 to $15 per 1k.

No one in this state would ever pay over 500 bucks to aerate a 1/2 acre subdivision lot. We get around 10 dollars per thousand sq. ft. with a 5k minimum.

My god what is this, no wonder I get tons of aeration jobs every year without even advertising.

I mean it don't take me but 30-40 minutes to aerate a 1/4 acre lot.
For lots under 1/2 acre, I charge grass-cut + $10, so $45 for the 1/4 acre.

50 for between 1/4-1/2, then around 60 for the 1/2 acre, 75-90 for in betweens and $120 for a full acre, it doesn't come down much because it's one piece of equipment that takes its sweet time but...

Still, price of grass-cut + $10 won't make you rich but it's a sweet, ALMOST foolproof formula (it works really good most of the time, especially if you're not sure).

One other thing: Mark sprinkler heads with flaggots.

5' pull behind for the open stuff-- Plugger 800 for the small stuff and we rented the Ryan barrel one for the really hilly stuff- (plugger does not like hills)

I did 2 aeration/dethatching estimates today and this is no lie. First one 3126 square feet for 235 and the second one was 2100 square feet for 190. The lady said we were more expensive than TG but we are better than them. When my company steps to the plate we bat hard cause we are worth it.
