hey fellas I have a craftsman riding mower here and I have had trouble with one side not cutting rite. So today I pulled the deck to check out the blades and pulleys and make sure I didn't have a bent or dull blade. The problem is the carrier bearing is seized up on the right side of the deck I was wondering how much it will be to replace this and if I need the carrier unit or just a bearing? also does anybody have a link to the parts I need I cant find any info on it thanks Dj

Go to www.sears.com and type in your model # for parts list and pricing...

You can get a spindle rebuild kit here much cheaper than ordering from Sears.

Sixth item down is the most common one but double check the part number at Sears as Splicer posted.

That looks like a serial number, Post ALL the numbers off the tag under the seat and I'll see what I can come up with.

ok here they are,

first number on the sheet, 9446088450 says model number above.

second number, 061898d004472 says serial number above.

and in the lower right corner in small letters it says 146488.

I am in canada so maybe that makes a difference? thanks for the help

That must be what it is, Can you get a measurement on the height or length of the aluminum housing only without the shaft ? In inches then I will compare tomorrow when I return to work.

Call 1-800-252-1698 between the hours of 6:00am to 11:00pm, Central Time, 7 days per week, to speak to a Sears parts professional.

Also eBay has several spindle assemblies for the 42" deck...

More than likely it was made for Sears by Ariens. If you're unable to get a satisfactory answer from Sears, call Ariens.

thanks for the help I came up with these part numbers,

right #157473
left #156483

They said 18.99 for the spindle assy and 4.99 for a cap?

Can you please verify those are the correct numbers and parts I need? thanks Dj

That looks like front wheel spindles, There is no way a blade spindle assembly will sell so cheap. Besides both blade spindles are the same part number and run in the $ 65/75 range each. Did you get a measurement ?

BTW, Your model number or the part numbers you posted came up under Ariens, Myself have never seen a Ariens built for Sears.

I believe Ariens does the Craftsman Zero Turn mower now too.

You're not talking to repair guys when you call Sears. Call back and ask for the part number for the mandrel assembly. That is what Sears calls a blade spindle assembly and what the CSR you are talking to will type into their little search box for your model number.

I'm almost sure that based on the models that those front spindle assemblies are used on, that the part number for your "mandrel assembly is going to be 130794. Or, you can order Oregon Part number 82-014 from either mowpart.com or that new powerequipmentwarehouse sponsor.

Could be.. who knows. Craftsman is like a cheap residential mowing customer.. they call around every year to see who can mow their yard the cheapest and switch over to them.

Well, I guess I do..... I found out yesterday that they are in fact built by Simplicity. Had one come in needing blades and a cross belt, Called my supplier and they verified they are Simplicity.

I was basing my thought on one that was a couple years old that came in that needed a pulley or something, and it ended up being an Ariens built machine for Craftsman. So yeah, the current model year units probably are Simplicity and better than the Ariens built ones.

Man, If the Simplicity is better built than the Ariens I would hate to see one of them. The one I worked on was a tee total POS. :dizzy:
