I am about to replace the engine on my Exmark TTHP. The engine is a 17 HP KAWI with recoil start. I believe i am going to order the engine from the smallenginewarehouse.com. I would appreciate any tips before I start to take the old engine off and replace it with the new unit.

try to buy an exact replacement engine. if your not real confident then take pictures of the old engine so you will have a referrance in installing the new engine.

The only thing I can add to khouse's post is remove the crankshaft components before removing the engine. This way the engine is stable while trying to pull them off.

It would be helpful to drown the crankshaft pulley in WD40 or fluid film or lube job or something comparable. I would recomend doing this for at least 2 days minimum before you attempt to remove the pulley.
