View Full Version : Another question about steps

I have a customer would like me to build a new set of front steps using some left-over Versa-Lok he has from another project. It will be two steps up to a small landing at his front door.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle the wide landing that will be at the top of the stairs. I was planning on building the steps using the pedestal method, including the landing, the cap everything using Versa-Loc caps. I'm concerned about how the caps will look and fit on the landing.

Am I better off to not build the landing as a pedestal, but instead build it as a hollow box, fill it with base material, and then set pavers?

Done a few walls, but never any steps, so I'm looking for some advice. Thanks in advance...

I'd use concrete construction block for the landing "pedestal". Finish the edges with the cap and fill the pad part of it with pavers.
