Where will you get water from?
Is there a pump already there?
How many landscape beds?
Any hedges or shrubs need watering?

Aww, now we're being picky. I'll beat Jon's 57K and do it for 40 flat and provide the water if I have to :) Oh, I'm not available until after Dec. 15th though and I need to be done by Christmas. If you'll go half down and wait til Jan. I'll do it for 35K:usflag:

How do you make any money at 35k Byran? You and your lowballing kind are ruining this for everyone else.

Wait, your using gold pipe instead of the good solid platinum SCH 40 aren't you?

I was gonna wait and see spec's :) A lowballin' money machine like me might use 80# poly:)
And remember, compared to you, I'm already halfway there !!!

There is nothing to do with irragation there except for a hose hookup. There is one landscape bed 75' long by 3' wide with hedges, porcupine grass & some annuals. Then there is 1800 sq ft of sod that would need to be watereted I could put up some pics if you would like so you get the idea.

I guess im the only one with the correct answer here. Since you cant price the irrigation you probably have limited experience in it.

On the sod it depends on how many obstacles to cut around. Amount of prep work and the price of the sod (7 to 8 pallets for you depending on how much you waste at 500sqft per)

Now heres my answer to your how much question. SUB IT OUT! make 10% and pay attention and learn how to price it.

Sod varies way to much on price. We are doing 15 pallets now for around 9500 with little prep but alot of cutting.

Doing any irrigation here will run over a thousand, once you plumb the work, and install a controller. Obviously hand it off or sub it out to a qualified contractor.

By the way, hose bibs are a last resort, when it comes to supplying lawn sprinkler systems.

I already have prices and know how to install sod, plants, ext. The irragation would be subbed out to a buddy of my dads who's been friends with my dad for over 20 years. He has a large company and specailizes in this. I just want a range on the irragation to see if he's fair. (I've heard he's a little high.)

If you value your client, you provide good service. If the irrigation contractor provides good service, it can't help but show up as a part of the price he charges for installations. Go for quality work, and try to not worry about lowballers who won't do work worthy of taking care of.

If the guy has a large business and specializes in irrigation. Then you can pretty much bet his prices are fair for the work he delivers. You don't want to cut corners or save money on hiring good irrigation people.

What's his price to do the irrigation?

As you probably figured out, many factors involved in designing and installing a quality irrigation system. Why the prices ranged from 40k -57k :hammerhead:

A little high based on what criteria? If the quality of the work is top-notch and the service is good, then the price will take care of itself. There will always be someone doing it for less. Could be that they are a little low. If he has been in the business for a while, maybe he has figured out what the actual cost of doing business is and is charging accordingly. Maybe he actually is trying to make a decent profit for his work. If he does good work and you feel that you can stand behind your recommendation of his company, then use him and sleep well.

why not ask the guy that is going to do it instead of asking us????

He will be able to give you an estimate, then you can use his #'s to work into the budget...

As one can see there are way too many variables for an internet guesstimate.

There are so many ways to install and different levels of installation service to ever be accurate here. It's like buying a new truck. A particular model might be X$ but when you add on extras or other things you want then prices start varying quite a bit.

Course... a hose and portable sprinkler also might do the trick. Cheaper initial cost but the time expenditure to operate the "system" is incalculable.

Na, Just get tired of the Cali retirees driving the prices up.
