I've spoke with KSSS about this on several occassions and now asking anyone with any info on why so long on CAT delivery's. I ordered and new C304CR in April...yes April...first date was July 7th....no mini....next date was Sept. 1st....no mini...now there saying mid Nov. it was ordered with the new angling blade, I guess this is the hold up....if takeyourhoucie had a few more luxuries like the cat I would be sitting in a new 153...putting the boom shift on the pilot controls frees up so much leg room in the new cat it isn't funny. but for a taller guy 6'2 255lbs it makes a world of difference. On a different subject my concrete contractor was using his new case 445 skid loader but with an aftermarket track setup and it broke down after 1 hour of use, dealer couldn't get out to fix it that day, this is the main reason I purchase from my cat dealer, they would have a truck there within a hour or another machine dropped off, same customer owns a 175 takeuchi (sweet machine) but the service from case in this area has alot to be desired. Just a quick thank you to shane for answering my many rookie questions over the summer. your a wealth of info and I appreciate your help.

Tim, How do they relocate the boom shift to the joystick? I got to try out a CAT 305 CR and was very impressed with the power it had but it seemed a bit on the "big" side and I will agree that the cab's are a bit tight but over all I like the machine. I'm looking at buying a mini in the next year or so and I'm not really sure what size to get. I've got it down to 3 machines for now and they are the 303.5, 304 or the 305. Good luck Tim in getting your machine.

P.S. Did you get any attachments or extras if so what did you get?

its a thumb slide button on one side of the pilot control the other side will control the thumb. the new 304 digs like son of a gun, look at the the buckets they had to design for them, reinforced due to the new 304 splitting the old style buckets...the 304 will fit on a standard 6'7" skidsteer trailer, (which I already own) so the the 304 was the biggest mini I could handle at this point, I still have a used 304 as a loaner and it doesn't have near the digging force of the new model.

Thanks for the info Tim. The rep that I'm going to be dealing with said that when I'm ready "we can go over any machine you would like". The 305 I had out was an older "B" series machine but it only had 13 hours on it when it was dropped off. I think I'm going to do a little more looking at the 304 because of what you just said and it seems like it is a perfect middle of the road machine. It does not seem to be too big or too small. I'm also going to look into the thumb slide button that you mentioned when I'm ready to buy.

Thanks again Tim

Tim,

Sorry to hear about all the B.S. with your machine. I think I would have told Cat to keep it, and chose something else. When you say the Case dealer around here has poor service, are you going from personal experiences or what you heard? We've dealt with them on many occasions since they came here, and their service has always been good. Expensive, but good. The guys that I know who run Case seem to have the same opinion. I was just curious if you've had trouble with them in the past. I'm sure they don't have as many service trucks as MacAllister does, due to the volume of machines Cat has around.

Good luck on getting yours!

Just that the sales guy tried to bend me over when pricing a takeuchi 53 this spring, and yesterday my concrete buddy was prepping my floor with his new 465 with 1 hr on it and the parking brake kept engaging and locking it up, called case,,,,maybe we can get to it in a couple of hours:dizzy: as its stuck on a pile of sand at about a 15 degree angle...

As much as I like Cat, having to wait a good 6 months for an excavator is a bit damn ridiculous. I'm surprised you held on this long, Tim. I would have told them to keep their machine and I would have gone with the Takeuchi. Doesn't matter how good your service is if the machine never shows. I dunno how you guys get shafted by Cat out east, that would never fly out here, except I had to wait like 4 months for buckets, but buckets aren't a $65K machine.

Thought I was the only one up this early:sleeping:
I know I shouldn't wait on the cat.....but I'm using there 05 304 for free until it gets here, so I getting alittle more seat time, also with 0% they have offered its a big savings than paying even 4.9 on a takeuchi, my cat dealer has bent over backwards with service the past 4 years and maybe as dumb as it sounds I'm a very loyal guy..:dizzy: ...on a side note I ran my buddies case 445 yesterday...you would have swore I was drunk, I couldn't get the handle of the yank em sticks again....the cab seems alittle cheap also but performance is all the counts in the end....pilot controls only for me...they where saying the same thing about the 257, they wouldn't use it because the controls are backwards...he told me... Its all what your used too.

With the options CAT brings to the table on this machine as well as the price Tim is getting it for PLUS the fact that he has a loaner RENT FREE...I think it's a no brainer...they want his business and are doing what it takes to get it! Free use a machine....how can you NOT wait!

I am a CCE specialist for a CAT Dealership in Texas. We can convert CAT machines to CASE controls for a small fee, are other dealers not doing the same?

CAT here offered to change the controls if I would consider CAT machines. It would be worth it rather than having to learn a new pattern especially for only $600.00.

There is no way I could operate case controls after using an 445 this weekend....

If I was getting a free loaner I'd keep my mouth shut and not say anything until next year.

I don't think he's mad because it hasn't shown up yet, I think he's mad because Cat has no idea where the machine is and when it's going to show up. You start to get a little hosed after being told 4 different times when your machine is going to show up. I waited 4 months for buckets and I was just as livid.

But what if the dealer delivered some buckets for you to use free of charge until yours came in?

qps,
When you give yourself totally to the CASE skid steer the controls will become second nature. If you resist (which is frutile) the machine can sense that thus lock the parking brake. Forget the CAT, accept CASE and all will be good in Indy:cool2:

The dark side of the force was working against me....the concrete crew was rolling on the ground watching me try to run and not knock the house down...I'll find the pic of the 445 with the track system my buddy put on it...it works great but man its wide...

That's all fine and good, but I had to wait a month to get a rental 24" bucket. I took it out the @$$ on a utilities job because I had to use the 36" instead. Needless to say they did give me a rental 60" cleanup when I asked for it, but I had to wait on the 24".

Tim, shop looks good! Better fill it up with toys quick! If you don't, junk will make it's way in and you'll be doomed forever. I speak from experience.
