If you have a local AAMCO transmission shop, they offer a power purge trans flush for $99. You pay the $99 one time and get yearly flushes for no extra cost. I am going to take my new truck there for it in a few weeks.

I think most owners manuals will tell you 30k, fluid is cheaper than a tranny.

On the Wife's Excursion, every 30K at the dealer.

On my work truck, uh, uh, needs changing now, probably been about 65K since last tranny rebuild. Got 265K on it, '94 model F-150. Hope to replace this truck in the spring now that it pulls everyday.

I change mine about every other year. I just go by the color of the transmission fluid. It might not be as often as dealers recommend, but it has worked for me so far.

My torqueshift gets it every 15,000. $189.00:dizzy: . The fluid is synthetic and as of my last service, only Ford dealers carry it.

It costs about $2 plus a quart for regular fluid. That $32 price is NOT for synthetic. Matt

Well, your truck aint newer is it? The 03 and up trucks from most manufacturers require a specific synthetic tranny fluid, ATF+4 is what dodge calls it. That crap is about 5$/quart say you have a ford powerstroke with the torqshift, 18quarts needed * 5 quarts = 90 dollars. They most likely wont drop the pan and change the filter so figure 99 bucks after tax.

Sure if you have a small gasser that only takes 6 quarts or so then the price is reduced but in the diesel world trans service is big $$.

I live in the gas world and my E4OD takes 18 quarts to do a flush. Not synthetic but it still adds up. Matt

They advertise it on the radio all day long. I would check it out, my parents just got there oldsmobile done and it was $99.95+ tax and so. It was $112 total and they recived a card to get it done every year.

well those of you that don't change as often as you should?

Is there any truth to saying if you go 100k ,don;t change it it will start givign trouble, you are better off riding it out?

I don't think there is a "right" answer for that. Kinda of asking which is better, Ford or Chevy. Matt

There is truth to that statement. By then whats done is done as far as bands wearing and clutch packs burning, by changing the fluid now you are likely to expirience a worse operating tranny than before. Plus, if it has gone 100k with no fluid changes it will be due for rebuild soon anyway.

yea, after 100k without a flush, the sludge is about the only thing keeping it going.

My trucks get flushed in the spring and the fall. Nothing harder on a transmission then pulling a trailer and pushing snow.

I change mine every 15k(recommended every 30k) miles since I tow with it every day. Cost around 55 bucks at the dealer.
