Is it ok to aerate and slice seed in the rain? I have a job in two days and rain is in the forcast.

I would hold off till the rain stopped. JMO

I guess it would depend on how much rain you are getting.

I aerate in the rain all the time. The slice seeding might make a big mess though. Never done it in the rain but have done it on wet turf and it was a big mess.

The best conditions are if the soil is wet and not bone dry,it slices so much better and no dust and the plugs pull so easy.

My 2 nicest yards this year were aerated in a light rain in the spring...I too would say hold off though on the seeding until it stopped

Aeration in rain is ok..seeding in rain is not. Seed will get caught up in wet soil (called mud) and not really make it down to the surface or below the surface. You want it to be dry enough to make dust when you seed. The dirt slinging around will help to cover the seed.

Ideal is to aerate let the cores dry then overseed. It breaks up the cores and opens the soil better for the seed..
