not sure i'm going to get any volunteers for estimating a price but

6 hours labor
++aerate bob cat tracks very hard on aerator, broke some tines
++drag
++lay seed
++drag again

$80 seed
$50 250# fert

he wanted it done that weekend
have to go back and reseed some of it washed away in the 4" down pour

I don't know your costs and don't know if you rented your equipment or own it. Or what you used to "drag" it with or why you "dragged" it after you spread your seed. Or why in heck you seeded if the soil was so compacted it broke aerator tines.Or even why you did not cover and protect the seed.
But I will still take a wild and woolly guess at
$475.00 without rental fees.

i aerated a different area that was not being seeded. it was a traffic area the skid loader ran accrost a couple of times.

i dragged it initially to break up some of the clumps and to level it out. i ran over parts of it again to burry some of the seed.

Oh ok I see. You still should have protected the seed. I guess you have learned that lesson .
So re-seed free because you did not cover the seed. But do the She a favor and NEVER do a job without giving a verbal or written price first. Written even on a scrap of toilet paper and signed with U-know what.
Now if the seed fails to take root and sprout or if he had ANY gripes at all, he will refuse to pay you untell it is right in his eyes. This happens all the time and is the easiest way for customers to get free work, hardest way to end up with a satisfied customer,
best way for you to screw yourself and worst way to learn a lesson.
So if you did not aerate the whole thing, then
$400.00

Oh and when you go back and re-seed? Cover the seed with straw this time.

i'm not planning on reseeding for free though. i will give him a deal on the labor though.

i'm not sure straw would have mattered a lot when we got 4" of rain all in one shot.


i don't think he will have a problem with the price. he his a baby doctor. i don't think he has financial problems.

yes i will straw it this time though. i learned my lesson.
