Mushrooms are so 'short-lived' that I've never given any thought to controlling them.

Conditions here are just right, they are popping up all over the place.

But not in such numbers that they cover a large area, just sporadically around lawns.

Yep, Keep that part of the lawn from getting ANY water. I'm talking about rain too:laugh: Mushrooms grow off of decaying matter in the soil. I believe you were told of lime because some think that lime speeds up the decaying process. But really mushrooms do not hurt anything, just ugly. We have had a lot more mushr. this year because we had a lot more rain. There isn' anything to kill them that I know of and every day you would have to kill the new ones. Just curious is this a newer lawn 0-2 years? was there a tree at 1 time where these are growing?

Mushrooms grow in acidic soil. They are very hard to grow if you are deliberately trying to grow them (ask any professional vegetable gardener).

Lime can help to decrease the pH value of the soil, but as a lot of folks know, that takes months. I actually dig them out with a shovel, put some lime in the hole, put some new topsoil and water it.

Mushrooms are the fruiting body of a fungus. Apply a fungicide.
