How much do you charge to install trees?

If a customer calls you wanting you to install lets say 5 Leyland Cypress trees, how would you charge for that? It seems one of the most popular ways is to charge what ever the cost of the tree is...if the retail price is $90.00 then you charge $90.00 to install it, then making the cost of each tree $180.00. Is this the correct way of pricing tree installs?

If the tree fails did you make any money after replacing it?

We charge the same as our local garden centers. 1/2 the price of the tree. Now that is for B&B. Your leyland may be Potted, so you just have to charge to make sure you cover what you need +. Another thing we do not guarantee what we do not buy. We get a discount and I make money on the trees I buy so I can afford to guarantee them.

First your have to know how to buy healthy plants and transport those plants properly. ALWAYS TARP EVERYTHING. And buy a GOOD nylon mesh tarp, not a blue plastic tarp, that just SCREAMS loser. I've heard as high as 2.5X the retail price, but there's alot of competition in my area and that might not float. I usually charge retail plus hourly rate to plant. If I have to get just one plant it's retail + a few extra $.
