I need some advice on over-seeding and fertilizing a 14 year old lawn of tall fescue. I live in the piedmont area of North Carolina and this is the time to plant grass seed.

I plan to core aerate this week and then over-seed and fertilize. Pellet lime as well. I have not attended to my yard in many years.

How many pounds of fescue would you plant for a little less than 3/4 an acre yard?

How many pounds of starter fertilizer and pellet lime as well?

Thanks for any help.

Without a soil sample, here's where I'd go for 3/4 acre. This is also assuming you're overseeding existing turf and not starting with bare ground.

100-110 lbs. tall fescue
175 lbs. 18-24-12
Since the limestone takes a while to adjust the soil's pH anyway, go ahead and do a soil test to see how much it needs. Remember, limestone can be applied anytime of year. :)
