I need to install a french drain here. I need suggestion on how to tie it in to the bed. There is already a very small ditch there that leads to a 3" pipe under the side walk. I'll just trench there and install a french drain maybe.

I'm looking for ideas how to extend the drain under the edging into the bed

You could put a small box in the bed, perf pipe with a fabric sock to the existing drain and cover with stone, then some soil.

It sounds more like you want to put in a catch basin and daylight the pipe to where there is other drainge rather than constructing a French drain. Are you asking how to dig the trench, or what to use to intake the water, or are you looking for how to build a drywell at the other end?

Go to a harware store or your local pumbing store. They should have catch basins and all kinds of ends you could choose from for the 4" corrigated pipe. Get the best one for the job.
