the z master is a exelent mower. i have a 62inch 25hp kohlor. couldnt be happier with its performance. best cut on the market in my apinion. wont clump at all even in pouring rain. even has a great smooth ride and holds 12 gallons of gas so you can mow all day without refuiling. many great features. why not just get the 25hp reg air cooled engine on it like i have? its very quiet yet very powerful. what are some of the benifits of the new fuel injection engine? what is the price? great mower, you wont regret switching to the toro z master.

THE PRICE IS CLOSE TO $9800.I DIDN'T HAGGLE YET,WANTED "TO TRY IT BEFORE I BUY IT".THE 26 F.I.KOHLER SEEMS SWEET BUT WILL IT CUT 6' OF 8" BAHIA WITHOUT DYING? HOW ABOUT THE MULE BELT,ANY PROBLEMS WITH THAT ENGINEERING NIGHTMARE?
----------
DON
LIANNES' MOWING

9800 is steep? but again..why the fuel injection engine? i got mine for 7200...not the cheapest but definitly the best dealer around. what is the mule belt? if you mean the belt off the back of the engine that makes a 90degree turn to the deck...no problems and all... i live in PA so i have never cut bahia but from what i have heard toro is one of thebest for it.

The mule drive is not as bad as it looks. I cut some Bahia and have never had a problem with it on my Kees. I am not sure about the pricing on the injected mowers (Toro and Exmark) I was under the impression they were like $1400 more than the 25 carb engine. However, I asked a Walker dealer that I know how much more the FI cost on the Walker and he said it was less than $500 more than the 25hp.
If it were only $500 or so I wouldn't hesitate to buy the 26 Kohler. They should use less fuel

I too am considering a 72 inch ZTR. The local Exmark dealer in southcental PA is offering 72 inch 26 hp F.I. Kohler ZTR for $9200. I currently use a John Deere F1145 for large area mowing with some VERY steep hills and was wondering how well the new Toro/Exmark machines will mow without marking. Also, does anyone have an estimated fuel consumption rate for this machine?

i think its something like 1.2 or 1.4 gallons a hour for the reg 25 air cooled...supposidly 15-20%less for the fuel injected engine.

I demoed the Exmark 72" Lazer Z EPS with the EFI last week. I was very impressed. The rep got on it first and took it up fairly steep hill that was covered with vetch about knee deep. He set the deck at 2.5" and was taking a full 6' swath at probaly 4 to 5 mph range with no bogging. I got on it out in a field with regular height grass and it cut great even running wide open. The supension seat on the EPS definetly smoothed out the ride. Also the EPS has the foot assist deck lift that the regular Z doesn't have. This will be handy in getting over potential scalp spots with the 72" deck. I plan on having one in the next couple of weeks.
Jay

Why not look at the Dixie Choppers? I'm buying 2 72" cuts with 26hp diesels on them tomorrow. The dealer has been great and is delivering them to me because he is 1.5 hours away. They are costing me $11,500 each, but with the diesel using .75 gallons an hour with home heating oil, I will save in the long run over buying the gas job. I will be paying 50-75 cents less per gallon for fuel then if I was using gas! The diesels have more power and the Dixies are very well built.

I HAVE USED THOSE MOWERS AND THEY BOG DOWN AND STALL IF YOU GET INTO DEEP GRASS AND TRY TO KEEP ANY SPEED UP.THEY DON'T GOVERN UP LIKE A GAS MOTOR.AND THE RADIATOR SCREEN IS ON THE SAME SIDE AS THE GRASS DISCHARGE SO YOU WILL CONSTANTLY BE STOPPING AND CLEANING IT,KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR TEMP. GUAGE!! THAT PRICE SOUNDS GOOD THOUGH.
----------
DON
LIANNES' MOWING

Another problem I see with the Diesel Dixie is the size of the machine. I looked at one yesterday, it's a monster. It would be like driving a car around someones yard. I guess if I had a lot of lawns over a acre or two it would be ok.
I talked to a dealer the other day when I bought my hd Kohler air cleaner kit. He said Kohler is still working bugs out of the electronics on the FI motors. On second thought I would probably wait on the injected model. Just my $.02

Hey Don thats a great price for the the Exmark. My dealer quoted me $9250.00 and he said that he would be making very little profit. He just started carrying them and said that he would give me a good price because he trying to get some out in the area. I got quotes from two dealers in the next town and they gave me prices of $9600 and $10,000. At $8900 you better get before he changes his mind :).

sealed bearings maybe easier to maintain and save you five minutes or so but the greasable bearings are the only way to go.

Don, You said you had problems with the 26hp diesel Dixie Chopper boging down in heavy grass?
DMC300

YES WHEN YOU TRY TO CUT AT A GOOD RATE OF SPEED,THE DIESEL ENGINES WON'T REV UP AND COMPENSATE LIKE A GAS ENGINE.WHAT IS THE PRICE OF THE 46H.P.TURBO ENGINE AS COMPARED TO THE 26H.P?
----------
DON
LIANNES' MOWING

EVAN528,THE ONLY DIFFERENCE I CAN SEE BETWEEN THE TWO ARE THE DECKS.THE TORO SUPERFLOW WAS NICE BUT I LIKE THE MORE OFFSET OF THE LAZER.IT'S A LITTLE NICER ON THE RETENTION PONDS,AND FOR GETTING UNDER THOSE LOW TREES. I DID ALL OF MY ACCT.S TODAY IN RECORD TIME! I SHOULD'VE GOTTEN THIS LAST YEAR!
----------
DON
LIANNES' MOWING

two landscapers stoped there trucks today to watch me mow with my z master. they were very impressed with the quality of cut of this machine. one of the guys owns a lazer and said it dosnt cut as good as my z master..even though he has loved his lazer he said his next rider will be the z master. also....the spindles on the z master are much better than the spindles on the lazer...there greasable with cast iron housing...much more heavy duty!
