Hello all,

I have three pear trees and two peaches.
Being the master gardener that I am I didn't even know the peach trees where peach trees until I noticed about 300,000 Jap Beetles devouring the fruits.

Anyway, all of these trees are badly overgrown, the pears in particular.

When is a good time to hack them up, and how much?
I would have needed a 25' extension ladder to pick them this year, 80% of the fruit hit the ground and rotted.

The peach, can I cut it back pretty hard too? They are all waaaaaaay to high, I just don't want to cut them at the wrong time or too much.........

Help.

Prune fruit trees when they are dormant Jan/Feb. You have a better look at branch structure and can decide what you want to prune back easier.
