I'm sure someone else has done this already, but I found it to be very handy. I use it to store rocks, toys, and sticks that I find while mowing (that is, if I find it before the mower does). It also carries my big water bottle.

The rubbermaid bin was $3.95 from Target. A piece of heavy wire runs through the handle and wraps around the deck pins for easy removal. The lid snaps on. Works great.

I like it!
I do wonder about the exhaust though...

You could put a pair of pruners and loppers in there too.

If you are into taking stuff with you, you might check into one of those attachments that allows you to carry your trimmer on your mower.

It's about 6" away from the exhaust on my exmark, and hasn't been a problem. Adapted the idea from a company that was selling a $50 attachment to fit a garbage can on the front for carrying clippings. That seemed too big and waaaaaay too expensive.

Great idea, however, It would get in the way too much for me. How do you get under trees? I know its removable, but isnt a mesh bag hanging from the handle bars enough for trash?

WOW you are really mulching some grass there! Looks like real thick stuff!

Dixie1, you guys must grow some short trees over there in PA. Just joking, I haven't had any trouble with bushes since the sides of the deck are still clear. The low angle of the picture makes it look taller than it probably is. I can still see the front wheels while driving.

The bag wasn't a good option for me since I have the gear drive. Plus, the rubbermaid is cheaper and works great for sticks/branches that I often find in the yard.

Yes, that NW grass can be tough to mulch in spring since it is often wet all the time. I think I've read every post on mulching this year to learn how to deal with it. This site has been a great help to me.

I have used the plastic basket on top of the deck trick in the past for spring clean up. I can lift the tine rake up to clean it and throw the twigs right in the basket.

B/4 I start to rake I take a grap it tool and pick up the bigger dead fall, throwing it into the basket with one motion, while standing on the sulky and steering with one hand. A gentleman like myself never bends over to expose a plummers crack.

I only take the deadfall home and grind up the leaves right into the turf. It's called top dressing it's good for the soil.
