i'm putting a 17 hp kaw on my 48 to replace the 15 kohler...i was just looking at the electronics and the kohler has a 3 prong adaptor that plugs into the three prong piece that is connected to the engine, but the kaw only has ONE wire that could plug into that then another wire that i have no idea what it does...i need some help here...thank-you

On the Kaw the black wire is the engine kill wire. The red wire goes to the electric clutch if your machine has one. On the Kohler engine the white wire is the engine kill wire. The violet wire is the charging wire and my service manual doen't show a 3rd wire. My guess is it's a ground wire. To see if it's a ground get a ohm meter and check for resistance between the engine block and the 3rd wire. If there is none then most likely it is a ground wire.
