What in you'r humble opinons is the best all around deck size for 1/2 to 3 acre jobs (residental) and you can only have one machine. 48,52,or 60.

If I could only take one mower with me it would be a 60" ZTR. It's a good all-around machine. Unless you have gates.;)
I second that..... 60" ZTR. Drop the lawns that it doesn't fit into. If you are mowing 3 acre lots, 72" may be a better choice.
personal pref right now would be 52. big enough for any job and
will fit a few places ,bigger wouldnt

I agree with SLS, 60" ZTR and 21" push. That is what is on my trailer most of the time. I rarely use the 21", I have only 3 accounts that have areas that I can't get the 60" into.

I saw someone on this site that would say 3 or 4 21" John Deeres. But I would agree with a 60 if it is relatively even.

a 60 inch ztr and 36 inch walkbrhind is the best combo. (thats what i have). The 60 can be used everywhere expet on steep hills and in gated yards. that is where the 36 comes in..... it will fit in many gates a 48 will not. After having this combo for the past 5 years I finally added a 48 walkbehind to my arsenal. now... the 60 ztr does most of the cutting, 36 in gates and 48 on any hilly terrain.

my choice is a 60" lazer and pushmower. if you can't get it with the lazer you'll be sure to get it wwith the push.

I have to say mine would be 48. That is for 1/2 acre up to 3 acre residential work. But if I could have two the 60 would be my next choice. 264 hits just what did you people think this post was about?

I added Deck to the thread topic, so in case someone is searching for Deck, it will show up.
This is one thing to keep in mind when you decide on a topic name, consider if someone is searching, so it will be included in a search.
BTW, I use all 60" decks.

Thanks Eric didnt think about that. This is somthing that I have been pondering for a while but have not been able to post because of software prolbems. Im already considering my next mower and trying to decide on the most optium deck size for me. And if it helps someone else thats great too.
Ok change it a little you have two mowers what would you choose. 36-60 or 48-60 or 36-52.
52 and 60 so i could see why everybody chooses the 60.
lol later

Most of my present lawns a 48 is just right. If the Everham thing works out It would be great to have a 52 or 60 lazer.
awm do you have the 52"hp or standard model

grassey...yes, you may ask and I will tell you.
I have a 48 wb. I keep it because it seems to be the best size for my market. a 52 wb would probably do fine but it would be important that it would be balanced so that I could lift the front to go over roots and obstructions, like I do the 48 lesco.
also, most of my cuts, since I have been in the biz, are more geared to the 48 (or so sized) deck. some of my commercials are two pass cuts. and one was over six acres. for that one I wanted a mini tractor with a pull behind deck. but I used the ole lesco anyway. it just took a while.
I use no push mower at all. I cut all of mine with the lesco and trim with the weed eater.
in summary, the 48 works for me. if I had a majority of larger properties, I'm sure I'd want a bigger machine.

54" is a good width for most gates and tree spacing.
