View Full Version : Hustler Mini-Z stripes - feeble attempt

Here is one of my nicer Fescue yards (most are Bermuda). This was cut @3" per owners request. Had been cutting it at 3.25-3.5". Mower is 2005 Hustler Mini-Z, 52"/19hp Kawasaki with fusion blades.

First pic is of my "striper". I took a mudflap and doubled it up. Attached it with 1/4" screws with band of metal on top. I drilled two holes in rear engine cover and placed hitch pins in them. Then drilled holes in "striper". Takes about 10 seconds to attach striper, 5 to remove. Can't keep it on because it will get caught under rear scalp wheels when backing off trailer.

I don't understand the need for stripping kits? Here in this area the mowers commercial lawn companys have used for over 20 years have left strips. My mower leaves nice strips without a strip kit....

Well, my mower didn't stripe good at all. The customer made a request for the stripes. His front yard is Bermuda sod, but the rest is Fescue. All his neighbors yards are Fescue and most have stripes. His last LCO was pretty bad, left some major scalp marks, dead areas, etc. I had made this kit for my yard, and tried it in his. Works ok I guess.

nice stripes man like the striper too. how is the 19hp kawi on the super mini Z i would thing 19hp kawi is a little small for a 52"? thanks

Yep...too small!!! Always wishing for more motor.
