There are two issues with this post. We vote for President in 2008 - not 2007 and I don't think we will see gasoline prices below $2.00 a gallon on a CONSISTANT basis ever again. :usflag:

Oh yeah, that's right. It was the 99' election that Bush "stole". And that's why I still keep seeing the "W 03" bumper stickers. LOL
Maybe you need to call MoveOn.org and get a refund. It appears that they forgot to use soap when they washed your brain.LOL
Wow, you guys got it made. We just dropped to $2.75 and it nots going down that much. No one can figure out why we are always the highest and last to lower prices.

I was jumping up and down for 2.32 a gallon. I never would have thought that would happen.
2006 are the "mid term" elections. Next presidental election will be in 2008

I'm not sure if I agree with your reasoning, but my mindset and conclusion on the price of fuel is similar, due to the fact that we're getting a democratic president with fair certainty (well, think about it LOL).
Isn't that something, after all the bs about 'high demand vs. short supply,' some of us see the daylight through politics?
What I can also ascertain with somewhat less certainty is that it is possible we will see another Internet dotboom, for a couple of reasons:
- democrats as a rule support the Internet, while republicans do not.
- it has been some time since the last one... although old-timers have not forgotten the lessons, surely the youngsters don't even remember... and it's always the young'uns who go out and get burned

Yes, the next presidency starts in 2008 but elections for that run towards the end of 2007

I tried to explain this to my dad, but he disagreed heartily...
I still think we are right, thou only time will tell... I might advise not getting too excited thou lol

The easy way to remember the year we elect a president is this --- it is always on a leap year. Last leap year was 2004 and the next is 2008. After the election the president takes office in January the following year.
US Reps run every 2-years. The election is every even numbered year. US Senators run every 6-years. The elections are on even years. Only 1/3 third of the senators run at a time.
That is why people are saying this is an election year and gas prices will drop until next year. Let's watch and see.

Not to defend the guy that belives the "election", I think he is talking presidential, is in 2007 ..... but, he does have a valid point. Good, or bad, Republicans as a whole support "Free Market Enterprise". In other words unrestrained business will dictate proper pricing guidlines based on the market trends. Now the problem with this is two fold, first Gasoline and Automobiles are not luxuriers, they are necessities, therefore gasolines companies have a protected monopoly. Seconldy, and use derequlated energy as an example, once the market gets people tolerant of high pricing there is no motive to come down - why? No real and actual compitiion - one goes up, they all go up. We the people get f---d.
Now, just for arguments sake, I do not belive gas companies would have gone anywhere near $3.00 with a Deocratic administration. The same way we know as good business men who we can raise prices on with no problems, and who will kick, scream, and throw a fit. Sometimes for those people its just easier to leave prices low.

Go ahead and vote in Nov 2007, you will NOT be voting for any office in the United States govt, maybe local elections but not national elections.
I thought this stie had business people and owners who understood how business works in the free market, I guess I was wrong.

I'll put it another way for you to remember when we vote for the president of the USA.
It is always an even numbered year which is a leap year.
Election day is always the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. In other words if the first Tuesday is November 1st election day won't be until November 8th.
If the first Tuesday is November 2nd then that is election day.

Yes the price of "gas" will affect the election but no, the pres. will not have anything to do with it. He is as happy about it as we are.
Oil finds,,Supply and demand, and the fact that the Mideast economy depends on constant movement of THEIR oil. I actually think it will run below 40 again before they try to tighten
hi yes i ment 2008 we vote but i mean leading to that in 2007 the prices will drop some and by the time we vote the price will be way low meaning in april 2008 price low...
anybody watch the history channel on here????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
well if you watch modern marvels, they had a show on about gas and brizal, do you know they burn alchol that is 1.01 a gallon? they have the biggest plant there in the world to make the stuff and they sell regular gas there to which is right by our prices.. people, all the auto makers can and do make cars to burn the stuff and they even make more horsepower with that stuff to.. so please tell me how a country like brazil can be so far ahead in something and the U.S. is not?? why , because the right people in our country is making alot of money off the oil thing and ride it out as long as they can.

i would love to see how bad all the complainers on this site run there business. If 30 cents a gallon is affecting your bottom line that much you are doing something wrong... using wrong equipment... using f550 dumps when a pickup truck will do
there are so many other places you can save money in your business that you shouldnt be so miserable off gas prices its like driving a $60k SUV and complaining about spending $150 a week on gas instead of $130
This applies to 98% of LCO's and if you respond to this post like a 2 year old you are probably in that 98% bracket. Some companies need to have a few ztr's and a few large trucks becase of the property sizes they work on

i posted this really as more of a question to the people who add a surcharge on the peoples bill for gas. i was more wondering when the gas prices come back down are they going to take of the surcharge for gas they added cause of the higher gas price. that is how i should have wrote all of this.

Now why in the he11 do you think that when the price of a 1/2 gal. of water is more than that and it didn't come from 3 miles under the ground and 5000 miles away?
You will never see gas that cheap again, it can't because the cost of living has been pushed up too high. the only way that will take place is if we go into a major depression, worse than the 20s.

Were still at 2.35$ a gallon in Charlotte for regular, and just down the street in SC it is down to 2.18$. Be happy to see it under 2 bucks.
Shocker is the price you diesel fans are still paying for your fuel around here. Diesel is still around 2.70$ a gallon, in some places over 20 cents more than premium unleaded gas.
I added a 5$ a month surcharge this spring to help out with the high gas prices. I have thought, at what point should I take it off....? Well screw it, it will stay there at least till the beginning of next season as my prices are low anyway.

Gas is only down for a short time period. American consumers did not put up much of a fuss till it hit $3.00 a gallon, so that told the oil companies that anything under $3.00 a gal. and everyones happy.
Just read this thread, some are excited that gas is under $2.50 a gallon

$2.05 Here and I'm so happy I want to drink it.
I raised my rates across the board when the fuel prices reached $2.50 but I did not call it a fuel surcharge. Therefore no I will not be lowering my prices if fuel keeps dropping. I will finally get a raise that I will realize next season.

Before one gets too excited, lets remember there have been 2-3 aircraft bomb threats and scares that have tightened restrictions at airports beyond ridiculous, and not to mention passengers are scared, all this keeps the birds on the ground.
And birds eat a TON of fuel... I remember after 9/11 people were so scared of flying that the price of fuel dropped to 99 cents for a gallon of regular, and shortly after that it started a slow but determined rise to today's levels.
So once the terrorist threat goes back some, I do believe we will see some hike. Not to mention that people in general are already being disrespectul towards the price of fuel again, and they've taken back to the roads, I am not so sure it will be that long before something has to give.
it will be $1.25 a gallon again.. within 2 years.. when i started driving in 1991 it was .89 cents a gallon and anything over 1.00 then was alot. now i dont ever see it that low but $1.25 a gallon yes..
once the war is over lol, it will go down alot to...
And I further believe that as soon as a democrat steps in, the war will be over.
Lets face it, it will be the hype they will use to get elected: Yes of course I will END this stupid war!
And yes, gas will be cheaper BUT here's my lessons learned:
Continue to practice the fuel-saving methods learned during those hard times. Because if, for example, I start stepping on the throttle of my D-250 the way I used to, my fuel mileage will drop from 14-15 right down to 10-12 and that's a 30-40 percent drop, just enough to completely offset the savings gained from a lower price.
Meanwhile, I still do believe there is a true fuel supply / demand issue, that is not entirely made up.
So don't waste it, it will only precipitate the inevitable... While saving it will help even more.

But seriously...Im with some other posters on here...if gas prices are breaking your business...then maybe you shouldnt have dropped 10K on a new Z-turn when you only have 8 accounts. Gas prices arent gonna make or break me... but I penny pinch alot...and love to see the prices come down. Will they get to 1.15-1.25 again???
