Dethatcher/Power rake

I have just obtained a dethatcher/powerrake, that was miracilously given to me by a friends dad that used to lanscape.It's up and running!!!!! I havent done dethatching in my bussiness, but did so 6 years ago working for others. So, my questions are both how to pitch it and how to do it proper. I know it removes weaker rooted grass,thatch,and weeds that can cause fungus,and such,but am open to more knowledge.I am curious about setting the height right,clean up,and the importance of it in fall.

I got one a few weeks ago and I have been using it to break up the pulled aeration cores as well as just sliting the ground for over-seeding. JMO

Cool, anyone else? Cut first,then dethatch in order to avoid pulling up healthy grass? Or dethatch,then bag a cut to clean up? height wise? thanks.:drinkup: :usflag:

How about cut and bag the lawn first, dethatch, and then get up the mess the machine will make

I'm no expert, but here's the order I do it at my cottage:

1- cut grass low
2- Core Aearate
3- Dethatch/lawnrake
4- Run LAWN SWEEPER! Saves so much time, I never bag ever!

Thanks. height - wise? How deep do you want the tines to dig-the lowest setting alone seems to do alot............:drinkup:

Put the height in the middle, make a pass and adjust as needed. No one can tell you how to set the height without seeing how thick the yard is.
