View Full Version : Round up in colder weather

when the weather gets cold like in late october in virginia, How do you guys prepare areas for new planting beds. I have had trouble with round up doing the job during these times. Any tips on what to add to it to get a good kill in colder months. It can't be any thing that will hurt the soil plants are going in.

tiller....
roundul will work fine, but takes a lot longer in the winter.
roundup works by stopping the plants metabolism. If the plant is not growing much, it can withstand this for longer periods.

a tiller will move potential weed seed to the surface, creating even more weeds

that's why you use a pre emergent

We mix Pre-M and Round-Up and it does well.

Ditto that. WE dig up or pull major weeds then knock it twice with pre m and gly...If that doesnt work there is always a spade and wheelbarrow. Sometimes you just gotta get back to basics like that
