Am I doing the wrong thing?

At the end of the season I seed all my lawns. Just like everyone else around here. This year I did something different...instead of using topsoil on the bare spots I used peet moss. Will this have a negative effect on the lawns??

PEAT moss...

depends on the soil pH.
peat is acidic in nature (pH 4.4). if you already have a low pH it could cuase lots of problems.
also if you have heavy soils, peat can exacerbate the problem.
