wooden shadowbox fence

does anyone know the spacing between dog eared boards when building a shadowbox style wooden fence?I know you alternate the boards,but at what spacing? thanks

It varies, depends on who builds it with however many pickets, how wide the boards are, and if it is for a pool enclosure. Just figure out how many borads you want to use on the outside( end board on end of rails, and space it out).I forget the exact spacing of the way I get it, but I think it's around 2" to 2 1/2" for 1x4s, 17 of them. BTW, for pool enclosures, spacing CANNOT exceed 1 3/4" for anyspacing, at least in PA.
