Check this out, lots of times my guys cruse from
job to job on the road. with this idea they are
aways seen better by cars on the road, plus you can
find them any place on the lawns. What ya think?

Always good to be as safe as you can. Seems like an excellent idea.

In my state if you spend enough time on the road to need a reflector that size then you are also supposed to have a transport license plate. It is a good idea and makes the mower highly visable though.

It never hurts to be safe!

We put up safety cones when our trucks are on the roadside unloading equipment. We also put our advertising signs up when we hit the jobsite and take them down when we leave.

Don't they make those cones with a small sign attached to the top of the cone?

A decal guy can make decals with your name on phone # to affix to the
sign.

You also could cover up the mfg name on your mower and place a decal with YOUR name and phone # also.

Toro walkbehinds have lots of room for signs on the gas tank.

with our mowers getting faster and faster, it won't be long before the signs we may add will say SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT

Racerdave, I like your idea.

I saw a sign on the back of a street sweeper that would probably be a good one for a ZTR. It said, "Caution, this vehicle makes frequent U turns".

That's a good idea Eric. Do you think Dixie would replace their "Why run like a Deere when you can fly with a Chopper" bumper sticker?

CLARKE

If they make a bumper sticker like that i would buy
10 of them, Is there a place you can do that? Make
your own bumper sticker, what a kool saying.:blob1: :blob3: :blob4:

Clarke,
Actually, if you want, you can make your own Bumper stickers right on your computer.

I've been running SMV placards on my mowers since my JD days! When mowing along a roadside during "dusk" conditions, these flourescent triangles really glow with very little light. The other plus is when the Lazer is on my trailer, the SMV reflector is visible through my trailer tailgate, helps when backing up. I still want to rig up a nice lighting system for the Lazer.

for those of you who get the walker talk magazine there was a guy from ct. who has a walker, guy made it real nice too. cup holder / strobe lights / seat belt / working lights / arm rests too i think / and maybe the safety triangle too.

cool triangles. I'd like that PLUS: , lights in the front and back, Horn, fan w/ water mist jets, cupholder that actually holds a cup at 10 mph bumps, radio-intercom-with active & passive noise headphones setup to communicate with employees, multi directional blower attatchment for those big drives and walks, edger attatchment like the hustlers have , rack for a weed trimmer that won't get in my way, ocdc, flames, suspension seat and independant front and rear suspension, soft wide dixie tires, maybe a retratable sunshade. strobes. To start with anyway. Dave g

Got Grass?

A Cup holder would be nice but a bottle 1-2 ltr. holder would be better. Can't imagine the horn working to well, with the mower noise.

A built in trimmer would be nice when circling trees and along fences. Just crank it up and in one pass its done, no more walking.

A device to block of the discharge shoot for tight areas like in between beds, where grass always gets.

A blower attachment would be nice.

Pontoons. Use the blower (high output of cource) to inflate them as needed, and to move the mower when the tires dont reach ground.

Reminds me that one of the high schools in the area had a "Bring your tractor to school day" yeah it's out in the boonies. It made the news. All these kids showed up on their parents, Deer, Ford, etc. Some took, the 14hp lawn Capsmans. Kinda like a show (off) & tell. Thay sould have had a contest. Who could cut the schools lawn better.
:p

Actually a horn on a mower is a VERY good and usefull idea. I had one on my F935 and used it many times. I used one from a Chevy truck and rather than a horn relay, just used a starter button from a truck. It is plenty loud! Kids loved it. Some of my customers kids look out the picture window and watch me mow. I would flash the lights and blow the horn and they would love it! When a customer waves, just give them a toot! Horn is also good when you have other workers in the area and want to alert them of something, (beep, beep). These are things that I will work on when the drought or slow time hits this summer.

There was an ad in a local paper, the person was selling a horn that was off a train. :)

Shure it ran off of 48v but I could rig up a couple of deep cycle battrys in the back tank of the walker. He He He.....that would scare the crap out of any kids that where trying to tick you off........and any time you see a former client who decided not to pay the bill.........BEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!

Now that would be fun!!! :p

never in my wildest... a TRAIN horn? I got the idea from when I drove a standup forklift at american greetings ( greeting card company). all of them had horns to alert folks as you went from room to room. folks would customize thier horn by turning the tuning screw. you knew who was coming by thier sound. JC whitney sells an array of horns from 10 bucks to 100. also added to my wish list of perfect mower

small ice chest
chain drag and full roller for striping like eric uses
marbane or carbide coated blades
deck treated with that stuff chuck hawks on this website
stainless steel everything, even deck?
BIG glovebox for sunscreen, gloves, tools, duct tape, wd-40
air compresser, small tank and hose for impact and air up tires
more flames
flat free tires
fuel, battery, oil pressure, engeine temp, rpm guages
digital camera
more later

I thought i was done with this but now your talkin
right up my alley. Did you say train horns thats
interesting cause trains is my #1 hobby thing that i
enjoy doing the most, railfaning taking photos of
trains & modeling them also, I could go on but this
is a lawn site, theres other sites i go to for train
talk and thats the other side of me. TRAIN HORNS ARE REAL LOUD!!

What about a mower constructed entirely of titanium (or mostly)? Lighter than aluminum, stronger than steel and weatherproof to boot!!! That lightness could really be useful on a ZTR!!!!

TLS
06-13-2001, 09:05 PM
By the prices they are charging, I thought that they may already be made of Titanium!!!! :p That is actually a real good idea, these heavy liquid cooled motors are pretty heavy, anything to offset this would help.

Vibe Ray
06-13-2001, 10:23 PM
Did you know that titanium DOES NOT SPARK?! I thought that was interesting when I read that.
