I'm in the Florida panhandle....wondering if you can/should overseed St. Augustine after dethatching in the Fall? Thanks.

I'm not sure if florida is an exception but dethacthing and overseeding is a common practice in the fall up my way.
im in the same area as J&R and we arrerate and overseed mainly in the fall more than the spring

Is not St Augustine a warm-season turf? If so, we never overseed warm-season turf in the fall here in NC. Not sure about Fla, but I would imagine spring is preferable.

They also say to cut it at 1.5" to 2.5"....which is way to short.

We cut St Augustine and Bermuda down to dirt in the fall and seed in rye on almost all our commericial properties. All of the debris/grass is removed before we plant. Seven days later we got grass growing that will be green until the St Augustine starts back in April.

Do you have to de-thatch any of your commercial properties??
