I want to expand my services next year, so I would appreciate if someone would take the time to explain step by step How to sod a lawn. New or old lawn it is something I would love to learn how to do.

It's realy not that hard.
1. Mesure the area your going to sod.
2. If the dirt is bad, put down a layer of compost (Tilling the ground is also a good idea).
3. Lay down the sod. bud the rolls tite together. The closer the fit the better. Sod usually comes in rolls that are 2ft x 5ft. When cutting sod to make it fit, it's better to have two smaller pieces like 1.5ft. x 5ft than a normal piece and a tiny piece that's 1ft x 5ft. The smaller the piece of sod the less chance it will have to live.
4. make sure you tell your client to water it well. If you insure the sod then check on it a few times a week to maker sure it's being watered. Over wadering can be just as bad.
I chardge about $1/squar ft. for sod and about $50.00 for a yard of compost. that includes cost of material, delivery fees and labor. If you insure the sod you'll need to chardge more.
make sure your seems are tight and also some peat moss before you lay the sod will help
