scag motors

I have heard from a few local people that scags have motor problems. I didn't understand why they said they have the same motors as all the other types of mowers don't they becaus eI was looking at a used one and that guy said he had just replaced the motor at 900 hours and had the paperwork to back it up. don't really know what to do about it if i want to look at it again or not just would like some feedback. thanks:confused:

What brand of motor are you talking about ? Ihave a Dathasui 3cylinder gas with about 1700 hrs on it and no big problems and the same motor in a diesel version with anbout 240 hrs and nothing yet I have a Scag Turf Tiger with the KAW 29 dfi engine with about 350 hrs on it and no problems other than It needs a remote control on it so I do not have to eat so much dust .Twj
