Where to secure ladder

I need to bring a ladder out with me for gutters for the fall. I really don't want to put in on my open trailer. Don't fell like tripping over it and moving it around if i don't need it for the property. I was thinking of mounting it on the leaf box on my truck. Does annoying out there do that? I think it will work but don't want to find out the hard way that it doesn't while I watch the trailer run it over if it falls off. I was thinking of buying some ladder holders that you would use in a shed and reinforcing the inside of the box, then put bungee cords around it to hold ladder down. Will this work or is it just stupid?

They make inserts for the truck bed just for holding ladders. They hold them just above the roof line on one side. You could fabricate one if you know how to weld. Or just a set of racks for the truck that you could put on seasonally when you use the ladder. Lots of ways to do it just make sure its secure.
