My machine wears there also. I make sure I keep that area as clean as possible. I even go to the trouble of keeping a good coat of paint on it so mud and muck don't stick as bad and it cleans alot easier. I have 3500 hours on my machine and it has always been signs of slight abrasion. Maybe others have other experiences....

I keep it good and clean down there.

Mini....another thing I do is high pressure spray or even hand clean the front roller/tensioner area. Some times I find I get rocks in there that want to homestead there. Whenever I leave a job site or sometimes during the day....I'll lift a track side up and roll the tracks to clean them out. Do it both sides before I leave the site and load on my trailer.

Do the same thing every day, and the is all on the track frame not the track back side.
The paint is wore off on mine in that location as well. Unless you are loosing steel due to the rubbing I don't see a problem.

unless it real excessive as in the track rubbing it will not hurt a thing have seen Kobelco's brought into our shop with 15-18000 hours and no damage from that. travel motor and everything is down in the case 4-5" or more from that area

Shouldn't be a problem, our 303 has all the paint scuffed off in the area as well.
