my neighbor has a patch of grass in his lawn that seems to lay down on it self. i have a few patches in some other lawns i mow. after you cut the lawn, you rake it up and the grass seems to be twice as high and layered. i raked it up and then mowed, but it just went back to laying on top of itself the next week. im thinking of just replacing that area of grass, but has anyone else seen something like this and what do you recommend i do to fix it?

One of my lawns has that stuff in three small circular areas. I dont know what kind of grass it is. It looks like tall fescue and has a light green color. I can mow it 100 times with doubles and still not cut it. If it were in my lawn i would dig it up and reseed. I need to take a sample in to find out what it is.

Kill with round up, wait a week+,till, and sow rye.

mdb I believe its bentgrass. Looks like crap in a rye/blue/fescue blend lawn doesnt it? Only solution is LS's, roundup and reseed.
