Im up in the north east and this weather has been killing me. My gravely is awsome but if the grass is wet Im sitting home. From what I've heard gravelys stink in wet grass. What mower decks discharge wet clippings good.

From all the post I've read the John Deere 7 iron II.

Bob-Cat handles moisture very well. It's the only one I can tell you about.
A lot of other guys are waiting for it to dry up, I'm out cutting it up!

just wondering because I see all guys with exmarks around here cutting wet grass all day long.

Better put a little more trust in the guys replying from Northern States. The southern grasses don't stick as bad so what may work in Florida and Georgia may not hold true in New York. The grass around here looks like cow patties when it sticks. Never used a 7 Iron II but one of the LCO's that did verified it did better here than other decks he had used in the wet. I'm not telling you which is the best one just passing on what I've heard and read.

I run both exmark and John Deere. I can tell you hands down that the difference is night and day. When it is wet Exmarks will spit chunks all over a lawn. Then when you shut the blades off about 10 pounds of clumped up grass falls from the deck. Have had great results with the 7 iron deck in wet conditions. I have also heard good things about Scags new Velocity Deck.

We cut 18 properties today in turf so wet it comes up and soaks your feet, with no clumping running the 06 scag decks thumbs up.

Hey Mow Pro, What mower? TT, ST? How does the new Velocity deck throw that soggy grass, nice and even?

Wildcat 52 inch cut with a 26 lc kaw man this mower rocks.

I have had no clumping at all with the new deck best money i ever spent.

From what I also read, the 7-Iron deck does very well in wet conditions.

From my own experience, Exmark's Ultracut deck is terrible in wet conditions and Wright's deck is pretty good. My Gravely's deck is somewhere inbetween Exmark and Wright.

The black Command Cut decks on Lesco/Cub machines is by far the best I've ever used.
I can cut with it in the rain with a water mist flying out the discharge.

The Great Dane Gen II decks do well to, except you eventually have to stop and clean them.

Grasshoppers new duramax decks hold their own too.

Many guys seem to also like the Scag Velocity deck John Deere's 7 Iron decks.

Those must be old eXmark UltraCut decks you are seeing out.
The Trivantage deck is pathetic.

My pre-XR7 Hustler is absolutely horrible in wet grass. Chunks, clumps, and clogged decks. It really infuriates me:angry: when it rains.

Same here with the eXmark Trivantage deck.

Looking at your location and thinking of 'your' thread you probably should demo the 7 Iron II, Command Cut, Velocity Plus, and possibly the XR-7 (have my doubts). Come to think of it, you might also want to check into Gravely's newer X-Factor deck. I haven't really read anything about it, but it might be worth looking into because it's another DEEP and free flowing deck.

i work on em for a living and the dixie chopper cuts the best in the wet there deck is not deep and the fastest blade tip speed allowed by the powers that be.i have run them all and this mower will do it.
