I just thought I would post a thread here about a koi pond I am building in my yard. If there is interest I will post more pics as I go . It is 16' x 10' x 6' oval , partially raised with a 10'x12' filter pit.

It is a litle past the last pic, I hae sealed the inside of the pond, and backfilled around the pond and filter pit.
I have a shed being built on the filter pit on wednseday, once thats done i will build the filtration in the filter house.

Some more details are:
One airated bottom drain that will feed to a 235 gallon settlement tank via 4" pvc, that settlement tank will then gravity feed a 215 gallon moving bed bio filter that will then go to a pump that will pump back to pond via a midwater tpr at about 3500 gph. Then there will be 3" midwater pickup that aill go to pump then to a bead filter then back to pond via midwater tpr. The skimmer is a pool skimmer that will gravity flow to a 215g settlement tank via a 4" line , there will be an additional 55g drum iniside this settlement chamber to do additional water fine filtering holding about 4 cubic feet of static k1 media, then a pump will pump this water back to pond via water falls , also will ahve a winter bypass to switch it to a midwater tpr instead of waterfalls.

Tony,

Hoping you are still around this forum..... How dod you make the waterfall weir that produces such a clean sheet ?????

I got lucky finding that waterfall weir. It is polished stainless steal with baffels inised to make the water flow very evenly. It was custom made for a another pond. That pond was getting an overhaul and I got this from the owner very cheap. Otherwise it would have been expensive and I would have gone another route.

Thanks, That's great - what is the flow you have going through that ?

You talk of baffles - do you know the internal construction ?

I agree the "swimming pool ones are extremely expensive - so I can probably get one made up at the local sheet metal place - but they don't know where to begin ( the outside is easy) .

The flow is 3000 gph. It is 36" wide.
Here is what I think the baffles are like in side. They also have supports inside to hold them. I think this is what it looked like when i looked through the 1 1/5" fitting on the back and from the front.
The baffles may be higher or lower then pictured , I do not remember.
