How often to guys paint your trailer?? I paint my
twice a year late May and again in the fall or Sept,
I also use some silicone sand, Just throw some on the
trailer where ever you need some good traction. In rainy
conditions this causes good traction unless you enjoy
falling off your own trailer.

CLARKE,
I havnt painted mine yet, it is a year or so old. I plan to touch it up one of these weekends.

Do you "sand" the gate/ramp? That is my only slip-slide area.

Yes on the gate on the floor on the edge of the
trailer every where you might walk. And when i first
buy the trailer I always paint the under side as well.
but i don't use the sand on the bottom just good emamel
black paint.:D :blob1:

Why are you painting your trailer twice a year ? Cant make up your mind on the color you want. Use a good quality paint and it will last you longer then 6 months.

What type of paint is best with sand? Enamel or lacquer? I would assume enamel.

SAMMY the Reason that i paint 2 times a year is because
of rock dings the mower hiting one side or the other.
or sometimes it just looks faded.////reply to COS yes
ENAMEL HIGH GLOSS BLACK Works best with the sand. :D

Sounds like your wasting a lot of money and time!!

I'm not downing you cause you want your equipment to look nice, because I definetly understand that. The thing is, I took and sandblasted my first trailer, spent a couple hundred bucks on some good PPG primer and paint, had it painted right, and never had to touch it again. It didn't fade or anything like that, and it was alot harder to scratch it.

The only time I touched it was with a little can of touchup paint every so often.

i can see why youd want to stain or paint the trailer floor twice a year, but i think painting the whole trailer twice isnt really necessary. i cant down you for having a clean set up though. you said that it gets rock dings in it from the mowers. i dont know if you do this or not, but i always park on the opposite side of the street where i mow, so even when im three rows into the lawn, there is no way anything reaches my trailer.

I used hurculiner bed liner like you buy at the auto parts store for about a100 per gal. they sell a kit for rolling on truck beds and it works very well and if it does scratch they also have a spray can for touch ups
