one of my residential customers just had her lawn rip up because of a cesspool.im going to replace that area with sod my question is the area is has alot of fill in it.after i grade it as best as i can getting out as much rock as i can how many inches of topsoil would i need to spread over the fill once its been graded.thanx ronnie

Around here where the fill is mostly clay, it's recommended that 6 inches of top soil goes down, but alot of the contractors seem to put 2"-4".

A 4-6 inch base of top is usually recommended. This will allow the roots to grow deep which will give a healthier stand of grass, especially during drought.

yes 4" sounds about right, or have a custom mix made. on my page under compost i think it is, i have the reccamended amount for each project, i think its towards the bottom of the page.
