Hi guys! New to the site. Been reading for a while but just registered. In my area most professionals try to operate @ $1 per minute in mowing residential properties. Should you still use that guideline when quoting out a large tract(20 acres) that needs to be rotary cut with a compact tractor vs finish mowing with a zero turn. Property has about 300 linear feet of trimming. Do you think $900 is too high or low. Thanks for your help.

$1.00 a min is kind of on the low side. I would try and get a little more like $1.50 to 2.00 WELCOME to lawnsite..:waving: :waving:

Around here, 20 acres would get about 400 bucks. 20 bucks an acre is the going rate for wide area mowing.

I have been quoting brush hogging at $60/hr and have not had many people sneeze at that.

I charge $100 per hour with a 4 hr. minimum. And I think thats a bargain.

I'D charge 50.00 bucks and acre for wide open mowing. I think 900.00 is a good deal.

Down here SO E. Texas the prices run the horizion, you have old retired folks with a tractor which will mow patures for $20.00 an acre and no minium, to the sky is the limit.
I tried to get out of the tractor business but there were too many customers tied back to it. ( I started out as a tractor mower and moved to the lawn side) now My price is $40.00 an acre with a 5 acre minium. don't get alot of jobs but I do make $$$ when I do.

I do bushhogging and my prices start at $45/acre(5' rotary). The most you'll get around here is $65/acre with a 6' rotary. It all depends on what you're cutting also. Mowing weeds is different than briars and saplings. Always allow for whatever you'll tear up and believe me, you'll tear something up. I have a 20 acre plot I mow and I charge about $900/cut, to answer your question. I also have a 9 acre lot I bushhog that I charge $700/cut because there's a long and steep embankment leading down to the highway-have to have flashers and good insurance. Hope that helps.

In the past we have done it anywhere from $22 to $25 per acre.

Are we talking about wide area mowing or bushhogging? I think some people on here are confused.

It's likely similar to a Golf course's rates, there's likely where the answer lies I'm sorry I just don't know the actual amount figures.
And you need a special machine for it, which, you own one already I have to assume.
