Different brand trimmer compatabilty?

Would an entire head(engine,carg,gear box) assembly from one brand be ablr to fit on the shaft of a different brand?
What about the bottom assembly(part the head and shaft go onto)? Would that be interchangeable to other trimmers?

This is a hard one to answer, Some companies have parts that are made for multiple brands. I have used parts from other manufactures units to fix some issues but ever job is different. Example I have installed Kawi HT blades on Shind Ht but you have to change them both as a set or they will not cut. I have also installed Heavy Duty Maruyama clutches on T27 Shind weed eaters. As far as matching gear heads will be based on shaft sizes and splines for the gear head. Good luck let me know how your experiment goes:)
