I purchased a gallon of Trimenic Classic to treat for weeds in my new lawn. (Approx. 2.5 acres) The lawn was planted last fall (fescue blend) and has estabished well, however, I have not treated for any weeds yet. (Other than pre-emergent for crabgrass.)
It seems the standard answer here for when to treat is around late April/May. (I'm in southern Indiana.) However, it appears to me that the weeds are already growing agressively.
I have purchased a 25 gal pull type boom sprayer to apply chemicals. Any tricks for use?
I would like to hear some opinions on the best time to spray, how often to treat, and how you apply.
Thanks in advance!

----------
D. Tom
Find almost everthing you want to know about IN lawns
Turf Tips, current info, edited bi-weekly
Purdue Turf Publications, general publications
If you are familiar with growing degree day models, you can effectively apply an ester formulation at ~70gdd, and an amine formulation at ~115gdd. GDD explained at bottom of This page(GDU = gdd). Your Trimec is in amine category.
Too early application will just burn leaves off, and not kill root, so plant can grow back.

----------
Jim
North central Indiana
