About a week ago I ran a red light and I t boned a car going through the intersection. The frame on my silverado is bent pretty bad. I thought that when there is frame damage the truck should be totaled. However the guy from the body shop says he can fix it. What do you guys think?

lazer frame straightners can do wonders. on my 99 2500 chevy when I lived in florida a buy in a f150 turned across in front of me. I hit him square in the rear axle and separted his axle from his truck. the front clip of my truck was a mess, but the the body shop did great and youd never know it was in an accident.. when I sold the truck I disclosed about the accident and had all the records, the guy who baught it couldn't beleive it was wrecked...
Its all about the body shop.
Not gonna preach, but aroudn here red light running is such a common place. Gotta stop...and think and slow down....
Got any pics...

The worst part is the person I hit was a police officer while he was in a patrol car. Every cop from the town was there.

So you ran a red light and hit a squad car? That sucks...everyone o.k.? Bod shops can do wonders on cars these days, if it's not a bad bend, it can be fixed.

I ran a stop sign 2 years ago and got nailed buy a suburban just behind my rear tire in my nissan frontier crew cab. I woke up in the fetal position on the passanger side window. $8500 worth of damage and you cann't tell. Entire passanger side was replaced and the whole bed. How were you feeling after? bet it hurt a little.

I was in auto body business before i started landscaping. Yes they can fix it to factory specs. The new laser systems are true, it might even fit better than it did before. In any business new technology is hard to beat.

If you don't mind saying, is this officer you hit or the township pressing charges?

I t-boned a car that turned in front of me and stopped. My vehicle was 3 days old, a GMC Jimmy 4x4 loaded. Insurance would not total it, so it was straightened and "fixed". Doors never fit exactly right, had problems months later with it pulling to one side oh so slightly, transfer case self destructed about a year later, drive train and rear end did the same. Yes, body shops can do wonders, but there is damage that won't show up for quite some time.
If it was to happen again, I would fight it tooth and nail, not accept the rig and take the insurance company to court to get a new vehicle. Then again, that just have been my luck and your vehicle may turn out just fine......
Bottom line, orange light does not mean "go faster to beat the red" and red light means "too late pal"......but s*** happens, and the odds are great that it will happen to all of us at one time or another, whether it is your fault or the other guys. I wish you luck on this one, glad no one was seriously hurt, metal can be replaced easier than human body parts.

You can't win. I stopped for a yellow today while the road was wet. I didn't slam the brakes on, but did apply some pressure to stop. The guy behind me must have thought I was going throught the yellow and came really close to rear-ending me. I had my hitch reciever on, so it would have been interesting to see what it did to the front of his red BMW M3 lol!:usflag:

I guess that would depend on how often you run red lights.
Enough people do it around here, they're fixin to put in cameras, and make some serious money!
