We work with our friend on fall cleanups and have the following equipment: 2 redmax eb7001, 1 redmax eb8000, 1 redmax handheld blower, 10hp little wonder walk behind blower, 60" exmark ztr with leaf plow, 48" bobcat ztr with leaf plow, and 16hp lesco truck loader. Also the whole top of the leaf box is a vented material allowing maxium air flow.

Very nice leaf box! If you don't mind what did it set you back? How did you think of going to an awning company for a leaf box hehe, very nicely done!

How does it vent?

Can we get some nice high res shots?

Great set-up! Is there a link where I can get more info about that Lesco Leaf Vac? I looked on their website and I can't find anything about it.

They don't make them anymore..... I was interested also. It seems like a nice compact unit.....

Very nice idea with the awning company making the top! much more professional in appearance than some other leaf boxes I've seen on here. Probably a bit more functional as well too since it weighs less than plywood, won't rot out and easier to put on an off.

How do you get rid of your customer's sticks and branches? Separate truck or trip? I carry my truck loader on my trailer, so I just throw ugly debris like that on the trailer...what do YOU do?

Heres one using the leaf plow.

Does that amount of leaves explain why we cant mulch up leaves and leave them to rot on a lawn up in new england?

To anwser some questions:
RedMax Man, the landscaper body is great for grass, leaves and mulch. It can hold 12 yds of mulch!
syzer, It cost $1200 dollars and worth every penny. I saw another landscaper with one on both of his trucks and he told me where to get it. It vents great as the whole roof is a mesh material. I will get more pics of it.
socty, We have two trucks go to the cleanups. One pick up with 20' trailer and all equipment, and also the suck truck. We put the sticks and trash in the pick up. We also do a lot of "you rake em we take em" so the cleanups can still be getting done while one truck is sucking.
Bwade, I'll give you a ring soon. We are slammed right now still have just over 40 more to do. Hopefully the white stuff holds off a little longer. We got $300 for that house but the nice thing is we had three houses in a row!

Maybe somebody else can help because we getting close to clean-ups and I need some ideas for a leaf box. I build a box from wood last year but there has to be something for a solo guy that is easy o build and easy to take off.

dura to the max- Once you use the leaf plow you will never do a cleanup without one again. Its a JRCO Leaf plow.

For everyone else asking about the leaf box they are great. Here is a pic of one on my friends truck. Made by the same company. Any awning company should be able to make one. But mine and my friends were made by:

Hello, I like the look of the soft pvc. My question is, How do you keep the rear tailgate secure. Not the steel doors, The awning gate. Does it roll up when you dump? What hold it from flapping open? On the corners and edges?
Im going to build one this week out of pvc hd tarps. There made for cargo covers. They have d-ring's but unsure how to mount the rear tarp. Thanks
Great leaf setup, I like it.

beautifullawns

scaglawnsnj the door is connected at the top and has a bunch of clips or button things (not sure what they are called) on each side then nothing on the bottom. The door doesn't roll up it just opens with gravity. It works just like your tailgate.

Awesome leaf box! Do you have any pictures of the inside frame and the rear of the box? Does it come apart for storage? Any problems driving on the highway with it? How much did it cost?
Thanks

Yard- I don't have any pics of the inside but can get some for you. It handles fine down the highway. The dump truck in the pic goes up and down the highway a couple times a week. They cost between 1100 and 1400. Worth every dime. You can take them off and put back on in just a few minutes.

Really nice setup...I contacted the awning company myself to see if they could make something for my dump trailer. I just bought the same exact Lesco loader and it seems to have a lot of power...any regrets with the Lesco??

I also wanted to ask if you run the engine at wide open throttle when sucking leaves?

I have not used mine yet...just started it up but it seems to really scream at wide open throttle. Seems that "about" half throttle would be plenty for most applications. Thanks in advance for any answers to my questions...

NINER

i have the same loader also & your right about useing at half throttle. we just bump it up a little when they are wet. what kind of dimensions does the awning co. need i want to call em up but want all the info at once.

beautifullawns
10-10-2008, 05:49 PM
You should run the leaf loader at full throttle. It sounds like over kill but you will need it.

Niner- I dont have any dimensions. They make them to order to fit the truck. You bring the truck to them for a day and they build the frame to it then like a week or so later you bring it back to them and they mount it for you.
