Looking to buy a used skid steer and need some info. I want to be able to lift 1500 pounds and stay around the $10,000 dollar range and late 90's to early 2000 years. Is there any models in particular i should look at? Also i'm going to need a trailer and would like to get a dump trailer to haul it. What size would be good for the skid steer and weight.

Thanks

1845C would be my choice. 1750 pound ROC 56 hp. Bullet proof and excellent resale.

Go take a look at machinerytrader.com for used skids. Hundreds of choices of skids in your price range.

What size truck do you have and what are you planning to do with all your new toys???-- in answer to the second part of your question.

Ford F350, going to use the skid to do landscape installs and the dump trailer to deliver material and haul the skid around.

I would also recommend the Case 1845C. They are very simple, productive, and very durable machines. They also hold value good.

For a trailer, I would buy a double duty U-Dump. That would fill both needs. You can get them in a couple different sizes, and you can also get them with a gooseneck hitch.

I have an F-250 with a 14GD Big Tex gooseneck dump trailer. The inside dimensions are 76" by 14' by 36" which allows me to haul up to 9575lb payload. With the builtin ramps that pull in and out I can haul any skidsteer that works up to a 72" bucket. I would not have anything but a goose neck trailer because of the way it rides. I have(unknowingly and don't recommend) hauled a 14k payload to the dump and the two didn't skip a beat. I haul alot of construction material and that is why I opted for the tall sides. I did pay $9500.00 for it but it has been worth every cent for its many uses.

I decided on a used NH 185.b for a number of reasons; 2500lb lifting capacity, bullitproof basic design, the fact that it was the most powerfull machine in class that was under 72" wide. Hope this helps and good luck!
