I demoed a 757 with the MOD deck and loved it but that is just my opinion. You need to demo one and see if it fits you.

JD 757 is fast and the large tires keep you moving even in rough areas!

In response to your question on the 757. I demoed one a year ago and put it through some interesting tests. It held a steep hill very well for me and when I purposely went through some grass exceeding 10" in height that was really part of a hayfield it went through it quite well. I was not going top speed because the terrain was a bit bumpy however i was probably going about 7 mph or so and did not have to double cut it at all. Overall I would give it high rating. Demo like everyone said and put it through as many obsticles as you can. Good luck

You will not be disappointed with a Deere if you do make a purchase. We run ours VERY hard and it still looks like new! We have had MINIMAL probs. The only one that we had was when our 757 was new after running it for a while you could smell something was hot and it was making a screetching sound. Come to find out it was the parking brake, which was set up to much from the dealer. Other than that I'm proud and pleased with our Deere mowers. We are planning on adding another 757 for 2007.

Has anyone tried the Gator blades with your ZTR??? They are mulching blades and look like they would work well??? About $20.00 each...

I bought one last summer after a demo. I love it. But the MOD is kicking off. I don't now if its the build up of grass under it or what. I am mulching a lot of leaves. I does a great job on mulching everything. I can cut the grass from 3-4 inches down to 2 inches and 4 to 6 inches of leaves at the same time. It does help if its not raining. I was also cutting some septic area's to day that was about 12 inches down to 2 inches just to see how it does. It was rough so I was only going about half speed. Did great!

I have had a 717a- sold 757 --- 400 hrs 777 -- 980hrs

Got rid of the 717A to under powered with the power flow.

757 with the MOD is great!!!! and the best of all is my 777 with a 72!!!!! I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!! it goes through ANYTHING and I do mean anything!!!

I purchased a new 737 this summer. Have used it on all types of jobs including large acreage growth where we would traditionally use a rotary cutter and it is great. Seemed to be smoother and dealer support was great.

LawnMowerKing10 -

I have a 727 and love it. I have a friend that has had 717s, 757s and is now currently running 777s and 797s and they perform flawlessly.

I have had no problems form my 727 and have heard very minimal complaints from any JD Ztr owners in my area. They get used and abused and they keep on ticking. You will not be disapointed.

I am considering getting 757 as my next mower.

I have found multiple 2002 757s with roughly 1000hrs on them and 3 bag powerflow system for sale for around 5500 the only thing that scares me is the hours or should i not be so worried?

If it was me I wouldnt buy one unless it had a 7 iron II deck on it but thats my opinnion.

John Deere 797 coming up on half a season old. No problems and a great machine to use.

11-21-2006, 08:54 AM
my original 757 is the best cutting mower ever nice quality cut, mulching kit with gator magnums, had a lot of problems with the second one didnt cut very good a lot of engine problems, deere finally put a new engine on it last month and now it cuts like the older one, had a long fight with deere and the dealer that the mower was not right from day one but they finnally came through, if you have a good dealer you should be ok with the deere, but i like my lazer better

11-21-2006, 05:08 PM
I do not care about lazer z a company has one that mows the neighborhood it has a horrible cut

11-21-2006, 06:30 PM
if they do not double, cut but when I saw this other company with one it discarged the grass and cut it pefectly so i do not know about the lazer z

What size yard will you be using this for? This thread is to foggy to make a reasonable judgment. The Deere sounds like a good machine. On paper its not as productive as its competition. I don't like the idea of a single pump to two hydros. Yet it gets raving reviews. Its hard to judge by peoples word though, demo you will get a better idea. Also, demo a Exmark to. You said the cut stinks.... find out for yourself before you make that judgment.

Oh MMlawns seems to like his 757s. PM him and see what he thinks.

11-22-2006, 08:27 AM
LM i think your best bet is to demo all you can its a lot of money to waste on a mower you may not like and also consider your dealer youll be spending quality time with him
