compost and manure on turf

Is December too late to topdress a lawn with compost and manure. Does this help the turf? Any advice on manure and compost.

Can't speak for manure. True compost will not have any weed seed as the full composting process will kill all weed seed. The drawbacks to applying now is it could blow away. The microbial benefit will be minimized because of the cold too. I would suggest waiting until spring but if the options are now or never I would do it now.
