Was going to post on the plowsite but I seem to get good advise in this forum.. This is for residential $400-700 homes. Wanted something simple that looked good. I thought my business colors popped on the black and white photo.. Changes welcomed... Printing tomorrow....

Looks great. Nice touch with the picture. My only concern is that the text is right on the bottom edge. i'd hate to see it cut off.

Here is another one I did. I created it in Adobe illustrator then exported it as a .jpg, went to Sams club and used there photo machine and printed 200 4x6 glossy photos. They look great but are expensive at .13 each. oakbrook chase is the subdivision

again, great picture choice. much more effective than showing a picture of your plow. Esspecially since women control the wallets in most homes.

This is what I use. Pretty simple and effective. Logo on one side, and message with address to customer on other side.

Do you have to drive around to price each house? Seem like it would take forever, or is it just for your full time accounts. Do you plow or just snowblow

looks good did you put a different subdivision name on each set or did you just market these to one neighborhood

I send them out to all of my current clients as a reminder. And I also do pricing in those areas where my clients are located. I am already in the area due to my clients, so to save time and gas, it makes it easy to take a few minutes to look at the neighbors located around my clients' house. Plus the neighbors are already use to seeing my crews, so they know I am not a fly-by-night operation.
I made the cards simple enough for anyone to understand. They can work anywhere I send them. I get a lot of calls asking me to explain how my snow removal program works. I also get alot of calls the night before asking to reserve a spot on the route, if a spot is available. My current clients always have priority, then those that sign up on a first come basis.
I have about a (honstly) 80% positive sign up rate with the cards. And to top it off. I think it is more due to the fact, that as I am building a great rapport with my clients (I will spend about an hour at the beginning to learn about them, their neighbors, and other factors.). I also take the time as the season goes along to notice the age, financial-being and health conditions of the neighbors. That way, I am to judge if it is worth my time to send the postcard out to them or not.
I am able to switch approx. 60% of the new clients to mowing clients in the spring.
P.S. I do plowing also, but mainly for my commercial accounts. I have one crew that does the plowing at my big-box retailers accounts, and my other 2 crews do snow blowing at the residential accounts. I am in the process of adding a new truck in March. With that truck, i will be able to add another plow to the inventory to speed things up. Right now, each residential crew has 2 snow blowers and accessories.
Also, I got 100 (postcards double-sided) of them for free (this is not plug or anything, just a fact) from vistaprint. I am a very big believer in them. I get all of my printed material from them (for free - really; well except for shipping costs). It only cost me (I think) $5 or $6 to ship them. I order them every week for about a month. I do the same for the mowing and leaf seasons. Saves me a ton of money!

Those are nice and simple, really like them. I will have to try it out too. I did pretty well with my leaf cleanup fliers this fall.

I found if you do the old KISS method, and make sure the postcards look crisp and clean then your cards will really help you out a lot in obtaining new clients. I lose a lot of space on the one side, due to my logo, but to me it comes off strong, confident, and professional. I don't want to clutter either side up with alot writing. Just tell them what you will do, how much, and make sure your message is simple but to the point. Works for me alot.
When I do my other cards (mowing and cleanups) I leave the logo side alone, and just change the message side. Simple and very effective.
I don't blindly send cards out to every joe low on the block. Sure, i could, but it would be more waste of time and money. I spend a few minutes during the earlier seasons to learn who my potential clients are. Just by watching them come and go, how their yard is kept, and how they interact with you at (i.e., chat, wave, etc.). Just by starting out with one referral in a particuliar nieghbor, I have been able to obtain 6 side-by-side accounts w/o really doing a single thing. Every one of them have come up to me. Now I will send their neighbors (that I have handpicked) a postcard for the various seasons. I do this for every group of homes (the ones I picked) around every one of my clients. I do not go blindly into an unknown neigborhood and solicit. They don't know me from Adam.
I know each LCO has their own method of advertising. I personally have found this works out extremely well for me, and hopefully it will help others as well, especially new lcos with limited budgets. Most people feel they have push newspapers ads, telephone ads, commercials, etc. to get new clients. And it works, but to me that is working awful hard and is awful expensive. Limited ad budgets means you have work twice as smart with those dollars. Be creative.
