I have a 1999 Sthm w 1400 hrs. They don't need roll bars. Mine was in Turf

2004 " Talkin bout my gear". The deck is easy to work on. The only problem

is its a fixed deck. I put an Enginaire pre-cleaner and a large Kohler muffler

to improve performance. They don't get stuck. raise the deck to change

weight transfer. You can run the deck off a curb by raising the deck slightly.

I took a leaf out of the seat to soften the ride. You are last into a hazard not

first as on a midmount. Ed

I have an OLD gear drive one. OLD. Like 1900 hours or so. 48" deck. It's got a Kohler twin engine, I think it's an 18 horse.

I used it mainly to mow un-developed lots. It's a rock eater, lol. Very durable, took a lot of abuse. Easy to work on, not bad on gas.

Anytime I was about to get stuck in the mud, I just raised the deck and that puts a bunch of weight on the drive wheels.

Well he mows some pretty steep banks with it. He has only had a few minor problems with it. He likes it and it always leaves a pretty nice cut with little scalping.
