I have a 12.5hp Kawasaki engine that is hard to start when it's cold out. In the summer it starts fine. However in the fall it won't start cold. I can use a heat gun as an engine block heater and once the engine is warmed up it starts on the second pull. Any one else have a problem like this before?

make sure your choke is fully closed when applied.

Had one several years back, and khouse is right. First make sure the choke plate is COPLETELY closed or it will be very difficult to start. Choke plate on mine had 2 holes in it, you can help things by plugging one with a pop rivet or a small screw/bolt (if only one hole don't plug it). After that stuff; when starting - try cranking for 5 seconds, wait 10, crank 5. Repeat until it starts.
