redmax hedge trimmer

my redmax hedge trimmer has all this grim around the engine/carb,exhaust. could this be from a gasket,leak in the gas tank. it seems some gas leaks out of the tank where one of the screws holds it in place.

It's usually from spilling gas all over it. Could be a leak from the tank though. Go buy you a can of 3m brake cleaning spray at napa and spray the whole thing down. then blow it off with compressed air. keep a close eye on it to find the leak if any.

every piece of 2 stroke I have ever used had black buildup on the carb. Its normal, Us brake cleaner, carb cleaner, or presure wash it of.

yea im used to the build up but not this much. everything was covered. im guessing its from the gas tank
