View Full Version : Another company naming question
Thanks for any input I know there are tons of these threads.
I started my operation last spring just using my name. I kept the business small while working a full-time job. this year I'm going all-in so I need a real name.
I've been thinking about using Legends Landscaping. Not sure where I got the name from but I keep coming back to it as I bang around ideas. I already have a designer working on a logo that features a character.
what do you guys think? I think its unqiue enough, but still sounds professional. I think with a good character it could stand out.
thanks again.

Yup sounds good to me.
Legends sounds good - any idea on a logo or charcter?
Legends sounds good - any idea on a logo or charcter?
I had one designer come up with a character that kinda looks like Mario from Nintendo. I want something that stands out, but maybe a little more "human-like"
i want the guy to be holding something. I know some people don't like having push mowers in ads but I think it might look cool.

I like it. However imo your name should not only state what you do but where you work. Example: Western Legend Landscaping. Just an idea.
I've narrowed my idea down a little more. I'll have Legends Landscaping arched over the character, and my slogan Your Yard is Our Reputation underneath.
right now my character is a muscular guy pushing a mower and tipping his hat.
I think it might be a little boring and I'm wondering if I should have something other than a human pushing the mower. I'm thinking of having the designer use a rhino or another animal pushing the mower. For some reason I think the rhino would look good and stand out. I'll post pics as soon as I can.
thoughts? is a rhino too ridiculous for a logo?
thanks for the input I really appreciate and respect everyone's opinions here.

I love the name. It sounds upscale. I think having a cartoon like character cheapens the name. I'm not trying to be mean, i just think the name is to good for that.
I would try to come up with something that relates to 'legends'
no offense taken.
I remember reading a post on here a few months ago about a guy who painted his truck like a cow and got tons of business because people were intrigued.
I know the rhino has no real tie in to Legends, but I'm thinking a regular guy is too common. I want people to ask me about the business (even if they're not in the market for lawn service) when they see a shirt or business card -- basically a conversation starter that might lead to a client or referal.
please keep the opinions coming if you have time.
thanks again

Legends Landscape is a good professional name. Additionally, building brand identification is equally important. Post a copy of your business card when it is completed.

Now that I've found a reliable good designer I have to make a decision on this logo. I've trimmed it down to two options.
1) more of the traditional logo with my name (Legends Lawn Care) in script over my slogan (Your lawn is our Reputation) with a tree or some other plant ect... to the right.
2) the character logo which would be a smilling rhino pushing the a mower with the name arched above and the slogan below.
I know the rhino seems like it doesn't make sense, but I want something that's different. Basically every woman I've asked about it says do the traditional and every guy says do the rhino. I figure women may be the more likely decision maker in a household on something like lawn care.
I haven't had the work done yet because I have to pick one and then pay half up front while the logo is created.
I know its hard to tell without a picture, but in general is the rhino unprofessional? From your experience would customers prefer a more traditional logo.
thanks for the help. I'll post once I get this thing finished.

listen to the women. Women make the majority of purchase decisions in the home. You have an awsome name for your company. it deserves a great, professional logo IMO.
