Does anyone know if the 05 f250s with the 6.0 diesel still have problems like they did in 03 or if they are/were fixed by then?

Any help is VERY much appreciated

I have an 06 and it seems pretty good could use a little more bottom end power. I had a 03 lemon and a 00 7.3 that was the best. I heard the 05 was pretty good also.

my 05 has been bug-free other than an emissions recall for around 28K miles. the 03's were the problem child 6.0's

Tell him to make sure to look into chips or programmers before he gets one. Also tell him to run a full set of gauges or he WILL regret it. :)

My 05 with 40k is doing great. Tell your buddy to be careful with the chips.Ford will turn away many warranty cases if a chip has been installed, and dont think you can just take the chip out when you take the truck in for service and they wont know. When they hook the truck up to the reader it shows any changes previoulsy made to the computer by a chip or programmer. I took the muffler off of my 6.0 and that has helped the low end. It is suprisingly not loud at all. My other two 7.3 that have no muffler are very loud and this one isnt. It has a nice throaty sound to it. Love a straight piped diesel.

I just picked up a 05 with 98k miles on it.

I have 100k on it, so far so good.

I know the previous owner had to have the injectors replaced at about 30k miles otherwise nothing major.

Good luck!

Should not have any trouble. I have a 6.0 in an '03 Excursion and we have not had problems. Mine was a company buyback and the issue in '03 was many 6.0 engines got 7.3 computers. If they got taken back after the real issue was found and had the computers flashed a programmed for 6.0, issue was solved. We have put 20K on our '03 6.0 and have not had any trouble.
