I just bought a used bluebird plug aerator today (2003 model) for $850. It was from Home Depot rental dept. The history of it was 70 rentals over the last 3 years. It is in very good condition both cosmetic and mechanically. Do you think I got a good deal?

I own a similar unit. Mine is a few years older though. I am still trying to decide if I am happy with mine, actually considering selling it as I am WAY broke, and need money NOW worse then an aerator. I am guessing yours is a 424? On mine, the mud always plugs up in the "reel" around the shaft that the tines are hooked to. Going to talk to my neighbor that is a dealer about that sometime this winter and try and fix it, if I don't sell it. I am also going to add more weight to mine, to make it pull deeper plugs.

I like the newer ones they are just sooo easy to turn around. And where they have the throttle is great and safer.

How did you know it was for sale? I need a good used aerator and don't want to spend much more than you did for one.

I bought a BlueBird tow aerator a few months ago. I just called HD and asked and they had planned on advertising it the next week. It was 2 years old (local HD sells everything every 2-3 years). They included the water jugs, a new set of tines and it was somewhere around $300 I think.

I bought a 2005 Lesco 26.5" aerator at a pawn shop for only $800. Brand new, new tines, clean, good paint, good 4 hp Honda. Best purchase of 2005. Paid it off in first year.

Many of the Home Depots around my area have signs up advertising a semi-annual rented tool sale. You might want to check into it. I was at HD last week but all they had left was a few drain cleaners and a carpet stain remover.

Our HD has a Classen CA18 3 years old for $867. I'm considering it.

Still running 20 year old (modified) lesco 30's. Found one on the net last spring sitting in a barn for decades, the paint had not even burnt off the muffler, approximately 10 hours on it. Stole it for $450.!!!
